Homework – Week 15,    Nov. 30-Dec. 4

All Month

There will be no book report this month because it is such a busy time and a short month at school.  Please encourage your child to ready anyway.  The more they read the better readers they’ll become.

All Week

§          Study this week’s verse, Habakkuk 3:19

§          Study vocabulary for a test this Friday.  They need to be able to match the word with the definition and be able to use 6 of the words correctly in a sentence.  The sentence needs to be such that I can tell they understand what the word means.

§          Math Worksheet 59B (Check, sign and return)

         Thursday

§          Math Worksheet 61B (Check, sign, and return)

Spelling Concept (concept is same as last week)

§       This week –  “If a vowel is short, give it extra support” (one idea used 3 times)

·          The /k/ sound can be spelled k or ck.

o        Use ck after a single, short vowel as in pack, deck, or truck (extra support)

o       Use k after a long vowel, as in cake, or if there is already another consonant, as in park or milk

·          The /j/ sound can be spelled ge or dge

o       Use dge after a single, short vowel as in bridge, fudge or ledge (extra support)

o       Use ge after a long vowel, as in page, or if there is already another consonant, as in large or plunge.

·          The /ch/ sound can be spelled ch or tch.

o       Use tch after a single, short vowel as in catch, pitch or stretch (extra support)

o       Use ch after a diphthong, as in teach, or if there is already another consonant, as in perch or lunch.
