Happy Thanksgiving Season,
In Phonics, we have added the /ck/ sound to our list of letter sounds
introduced. The students are working on the concept of numerals 0-5 and also
more graphing in math time. Bible lessons are focusing on Jesus being the
Good Shepherd. In science, we are learning about fall leaves. We completed
our read aloud book, Charlotte's Web, and will be watching the original
cartoon movie in class this week. Social Studies covers the first
Thanksgiving.
Our annual Book Character Day is coming up on November 20th. This is a day
the students dress like their favorite character in a book. During the
course of the day the students will talk about their character and the book
he/she is in. The student must bring a copy of the book to school with
them. It is a fun day and we learn a lot about literature. I am letting you
know now so that you can take advantage of costumes and accessories being
available in the stores due to Halloween. The school will send out some
information a little later on about specifics, etc. The book has to be a
title that is in our school's library. You do not have to check it out from
there, but do need to see if we carry that title. The children loved the day
last year.
Our next field trip is coming up soon. The cost is $6.00. We are going to
see "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" in Chattanooga. It is Dec. 11th. We
will be leaving about 8:30 and returning by lunch. If you plan to attend
please let Mrs. Touchstone know as the deadline is here. We only have 2-3
more seats available. It is sold out and we reserved a certain number of
seats. If you have already let her know that you will be attending then you
are counted in our number of reserved seats.
Conferences have begun. If you have not signed up for a time, then come by
the room and pick a time that works for you. There are several times still
available. It is not necessary for both parents to attend, but are welcome to
do so. During the conference we will discuss the standardized test results,
classroom performance, and any concerns that you may have.
If your child got way too much candy for Halloween and you want to be rid of
some of it, then we would love to put it in our candy box. If you want to be
rid of the extra candy, but your child does not, then grab Mrs. Touchstone or
I and we will VERY carefully help you out with depositing it in the candy box!
Ha!
If you have questions of any kind please feel free to contact me.
Thanks!
