Uniform Changes and Reminders for 2009/2010

When a Cornerstone student puts on his/her school uniform it is a reminder that they are a part of something bigger then themselves. They are an integral part of something extraordinary! Our uniform is a central element of our character development, self esteem and school pride. Our uniform is a symbol of our unity and our attitude towards academics and achievement. Please ensure your child is wearing their EAGLE PRIDE, properly and proudly.

We have implemented a permit system to manage proper uniform expectations. Students not in proper uniform attire will be sent to the office before class begins to request a permit for the specific uniform infraction (incorrect socks, shoes, sweater etc.). A student requiring more than 3 permits for the year will lose field trip privileges and/or the parent will be called to bring in the proper uniform attire to the office before the student is allowed back into class.

Uniform Changes:

1. All students will wear rubber soled dress shoes with socks. Please see examples (Saddle Oxfords, Bucs, Ivy League, Penny Loafer and Merrell) in the Buckhead Uniforms’ catalogue.

2. Capri pants have been eliminated from the uniform.

Note: Upon completion of the gymnasium, Jr. High students will be required to have a gym uniform: Burgundy shorts, Cornerstone t-shirt, white gym socks and gym shoes. The PE uniform will be available through Cornerstone Schools when necessary.

Important Uniform Reminders:

A. Undershirts should not be visible.

B. Turtle necks must be white.

C. Girls please do NOT wear leggings or sweat pants under skirts. Either chose to wear a uniform skirt with solid blue/white knee socks/tights OR uniform pants.

D. Bike shorts should be worn, under skirts and jumpers, by elementary girls.

E. Red sweaters/vests have been retired (2 years ago) and are not acceptable uniform pieces.

F. Students require long sleeve uniform shirts for the winter and short sleeve uniform shirts for the summer.

G. Cornerstone ‘Spirit Wear’ sweatshirts are considered uniform and will be available through Cornerstone in the fall.

H. Socks are solid navy or solid white knee socks or tights. Crew socks are acceptable with pants.

I. Jewelry should be minimal and diminutive; not a distraction.

J. No black pants.
