I am so excited to be starting my 15th year of teaching!!! I am equally as
excited that I have returned to Dalton Public Schools to work at Dalton
Middle School! What a great opportunity to be coming home to teach where I
WAS A STUDENT!!! (Mr. Suits was my Language Arts teacher...how cool is
that!!??)
My family and I are originally from Dalton, but we lived in
Augusta for two years before moving back to Dalton! I want to tell you a
little about myself. Plus, I can't wait to find out about each and every
one of you!!!
As I said, I am beginning my 15th year as an educator. This is my fifth
year at Dalton Middle. The year we moved back from Augusta I taught math at
New Hope Middle School in Whitfield County. The two years before that I
taught both gifted and special education classes at Riverside Middle School
in Evans, Georgia (a suburb of Augusta). There I taught 7th grade math (Pre-
Algebra and Introduction to pre-algebra). Before that I taught 5th grade
science and advanced placement math at City Park in Dalton. I have also
taught at the former Morris Street School in Dalton and at Spring Place
Elementary in Murray County.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Education from The University of Georgia
in Athens...GO DAWGS!!! I received my Masters of Education in Middle Grades
Math/Science from Berry College in Rome, Georgia. I am currently working on
my Specialist Degree through Valdosta State University. So, while you are
studying hard...I will be too!!! I have also completed my gifted certification
through CSRA RESA.
My husband and I have one daughter, Lily Claire, who is 9 and a half. She
will be in the 4th grade this year at Westwood School. We also have a four
year old son named Carter. He is starting Pre-K this year at Westwood also!
Other important members of our family include our dog, a Springer Spaniel
named Molly, a cat named Oreo, and one fish named Nectarine and a turtle named
Lulu. My daughter is always collecting various bugs and turtles, so the number
of pets just keeps on growing!!! Perhaps she will grow up to be a science
teacher too one day!!! Or maybe a vet!!
I am a HUGE Georgia Bulldog fan and look forward to traveling to Athens for
many games this year! GGGOOOOOO DAWGS---SIC 'EM!!!!!
My family and I attend Dalton First United Methodist Church and stay as
active there as we can. I was baptized there, grew up there, and was married
there!! Both of my children were also baptized at DFUMC. It is our family!!
Let's make this the best year ever!!! Are you ready??!!
It is my belief that every child in my class is capable of learning above
and beyond their current level. I hope to challenge all students and to
foster a love of science in each of you!
