How many unexcused absences am I allowed?
When unexcused absences exceed ten days in a semester for one class, the
student shall be ineligible to take the final exam for that particular class.
What do I do if I miss a test/exam because of an excused absence?
The student will obtain a note verifying the absence. Students have three
days to make up the test/exam at a scheduled time after school. If a
test/exam is given during a student's absence for which an excuse cannot be
produced, the student will be given a grade of zero for the test or exam
without an opportunity to make it up.
Am I required to keep a notebook daily?
Yes, students are required to keep an organized notebook. There will be
several unannounced notebook checks. Students will receive a daily, quiz,
project, or test grade.
Do you offer extra credit?
Extra credit work will be given periodically at the instructor's discretion.
You must be present on the day the extra credit is given in order to receive
credit. The date will not be announced in advance. Extra credit will not be
made up.
Can I use the Internet?
The Internet is not a toy, it's an educational tool. Therefore, proper usage
of it will be strictly enforced. Anyone caught misusing the Internet for
anything other than teacher designated assignment(s) will be dealt with
according to the rules outlined in the disciplinary brochure. Please see
LINKS to review City Schools of Decatur's Acceptable Use Policy.
Does the Business Department have any type of club or organization?
Yes, all students are encouraged to join the vocational student organization
(FBLA) associated with business education. Dues are $15 ($6 for
National, $3 for State, and $6 for Local). Students build leadership skills
by competing in skill competitions at the local and state levels and by
participating in community and local enterprise projects.
