Literacy Action Plan Asset Map Goals

Practice of Teaching-Teachers ensure that they are providing a learning experience that is consistent with other classes in their grade.

  • Does grade-level planning ensure consistent coverage of literacy skills and the interchange of ideas and resources among grade-level teams?
  • Are teachers working toward common levels of expectations?

The Learning Community-The school is committed to Cornerstone principles and definition of literacy and to working together as learners.

  • Are the purposes of literacy activities defined and consistent across the school?
  • Is the learning philosophy communicated to all in the school community?

Student Learning-Students understand what they are doing, what they are expected to learn from it, where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and how they may improve.

  • Is quite reading time productive and are students aware of wider aims of reading and writing?
  • Do opportunities exist for students to write for different purposes?
  • Can students articulate their ideas and talk about their own learning?
