Hi! Welcome to my class! My name is Karen Boyd, and I am so excited to be
working with your child this year. I have a degree in Elementary Education
from Furman University. I have been teaching for 18 years now (Wow! Has it
been that long?). During this time, I have taught second grade, fourth
grade, and kindergarten.
I have been married for 17 years to my wonderful husband, Tommy. We have
three amazing children: Our daughter, Kendall, is in 10th grade; our
son, Tommy, is in 7th grade; and our son, Will, is in third grade. (Yes, I
have three children in three different schools!!!!)
I have to say that I love teaching second grade! I enjoy working with this
age group because they are still so enthusiastic about learning...it's so
much fun to watch them gain more and more independence and confidence as
they build on and refine the skills they have been working on the past few
years! It is my goal that each child in my class feels loved and supported.
To provide a safe,fun,and engaging environment in which students are free to
ask questions, take chances, try new things, and reach their full potential.
