General information
Spelling: Words are sent home with the spelling packet every Monday. Please
let me know if you need a new copy. If your child has trouble with
the tests, please get him/her to do some extra practice - beyond
the spelling packet - during the week. Test Friday.
Vocabulary: Words are written in the vocabulary folders at home between
Monday and Wednesday. I will check the folders Wednesday. A
crossword puzzle or matching practice page will go home every
Monday. It will be due the next day. Help your child make up good
context sentences during the week, so he/she will be prepared to
write them in class on the test. The children may choose their own
words for the context sentences.
An example of a sentence that does NOT meet my standard is:
He is timid. (There is no clue what "timid" means.
An example of a sentence that DOES meet my standard is:
The timid little boy hid behind his mama.
Reading story: Books go home every Thursday for the children to read with an
adult. Please ask questions to check your child's
comprehension. Tests are Friday. We will also do an AR quiz
on the reading stories on Fridays.
