This is my 25th (!!) year of teaching. I have taught first, second and
third grades. I have taught at J.D. Davis, Edgewood, Midland Academy, and
now Eagle Ridge. This is my seventh year teaching third grade.
I am a native of Columbus, attended Columbus High School, and Columbus
College (now CSU). I earned a Bachelor of Music Degree, and began my teaching
career teaching 5th and 6th grade band at six different elementary schools. I
did that only for one year! I later added on my Master's Degree in Early
Childhood Education. I am married with two grown children, and I have a cute
dog name Chipper (as in Chipper Jones).
My "other career" is as a musician. I have played flute with the Columbus
Symphony for more years than some of you have been alive!! (no kidding) In my
spare time, when there is some, I enjoy tennis, reading, crossword puzzles,
walking, and being with my family. My idea of heaven is a book, a beach, and
a lounge chair under an umbrella!
I was fortunate in being selected as Eagle Ridge Academy's Teacher of the
Year last year. It was quite an honor, and very much appreciated. I made it
into the top ten for the county Teacher of the Year, and enjoyed the
recognition that selection brought my way. I hope I will be able to live up
to the expectations that now go along with the TOY distinction.
I love to teach, and I hope I am able to inspire a love of learning in
your children, along with a true sense of curiosity that will last a lifetime!
