Zero the Hero is loved by all. Zero the Hero visits our class every tenth day
because he loves numbers that end in zero. He also reminds us of his
importance in numbers that contain zero. Each day during calendar time we
count how many days we have been in school with counting straws. Each time we
make a bundle of ten straws Zero the Hero makes a special treat and activity
for each child in our class.
10th day: We counted ten pennies and some made a fair trade for a dime!
20th day: We counted twenty fruit loops on two ten frames. Yummy!
30th day: We counted 30 smarties because we are so SMART!
40th day: We counted, sorted, and graphed M&Ms. We ate them too!
50th day: We counted, sorted, and graphed festive gummies. They were delicious!
60th day:

Zero the Hero's favorite day of school is the 100th day. On this day we
celebrate with many fun zero activities.
