Weekly Practice Records for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band students are due
each week.
Grading Scale for Practice Records:
2 hours or more per week=100
1.5-2 hours per week=85
1-1.5 hours per week=75
less than an hour per week=50
no practice record=0
6th Grade Band students should view the DVD on instrument care and
maintenance. Practice records for 6th grade band are due each Monday.
Students should practice lines covered in band class and their concert music.
7th Grade Band students should practice lines 1-20 in the Essential
Elements Book 2, Concert Warm-ups and Chorales, concert band music and scale
sheet. Chair auditions begin the week of Dec. 8. Students will be tested on
concert F and concert Eb scales, and line 22 in the band book.
8th Grade Band students should practice lines in the Step-by-Step Band Method
book, their current concert band music, and scale sheet. Chair auditions
begin the week of Dec. 8. Students will be tested on the chromatic scale from
memory, and the Warm-up Scale Technique exercise: Concert Bb-C scales.
