Journalism. I am certified in grades 4-8 (middle grades) in social studies
and language arts. I am also certified in grades 7-12 in history and social
sciences. I currently teach sixth grade social studies. I am a very active
person outside of school. I teach three adult Sunday School classes at
Thomson First United Methodist Church. I enjoy traveling, reading, crafts,
and spending time with family and friends.
Background: I grew up in McDuffie County, Thomson, Georgia. I attended the
public schools of McDuffie County until fifth grade. Left the public school
system and attended Briarwood Academy sixth through twelfth grades. Upon high
school graduation I attended Young Harris College where I recieved an
associate degree in education. Upon graduation from Young Harris College I
attended LaGrange College and recieved a bachelor of arts degree in history
with a minor in secondary education. After leaving LaGrange I did graduate
work at Augusta State University in middle grades education. I have taught in
Glascock and Taliaferro Counties before coming to Columbia County.
Update: My daughter, April back in August made the Young Harris College
Cheerleading Squad. We have enjoyed going and seeing her cheer at the
basketball games. The Lions have excellent records in basketball both girls
and boys.
The students to become familiar with different areas of the world. To realize
that most of the world's people and their cultures are similar to ours, but
different in a variety of ways. Also to be thankful for what the United
States has to offer them as citizens of a great nation.
