What is the best way to contact Mr. Winge?

Usually email is the best way to contact me. The voicemail at
school is
unreliable at best. If you want to call me I SHOULD be available
during the
times of 7:40 to 9:10.

What days are tests on?

It totally depends on how each class is getting the concept. I
will judge
when tests are given based on how well the students are recieving
the
information.

Is extra credit ever given to improve a student's grades?

No. I do not believe in giving extra credit
"projects". They will,
however, have chances to earn extra credit on tests. The
questions asked
will challenge them to the point that I am certain they will have
earned
their grade.

Is Mr. Winge's class hard?

It is what you make it. If you pay attention in class, keep up
with your
notes, and study a little before tests you should be fine. I
know not
everybody is good at math, but there is no excuse for failing my
class. If
any additional help from me is needed please let me know and I
will do
everything I can.

Will I be required to bring my book to class everyday?

Yes. We have new textbooks this year and they are good
resources. We may
or may not use the books on a regular basis, but I still want
them in class
just in case we need them.

How does Mr. Winge handle discipline issues?

Quite easily. Here is what happens....First of all, I am not
very strict
on the little things and it takes a lot to irritate me. However,
there are
certain things, which greatly hinder class progress and this is
what I am
concerned with. I will be very specific about what those things
are on the
first couple days of class and these situations will not be
tolerated. Some
things will require me to issue a D.R. where they will recieve a
day of
detention or ISS. However, I really like to handle discipline
issues
myself. Basically, how I do that is if a student is consistantly
disrupting
class they will be sent to another class to spend the rest of the
period.
The same day I have to discipline the child, I will contact the
parents in
some way to inform them about what happened. The reason why I
use this form
of discipline is that I want my students to learn that they have
important
choices to make in life. In this case, if they choose to stay in
class they
will have a better chance of learning the material, getting
better grades,
and passing my class. If they choose to not stay in class they
will have a
better chance of being in my class next year. I will give them
that choice
and would appreciate your help as parents to help them make the
right one.

How does Mr. Winge grade?

Most of the grades will come from the tests that are given and
they will be
counted twice. Other grades will come from homework assignments
and
projects and quizzes.

What is Coach Winge's policies on sports?

It's very simple. I have zero tolerance for poor academic
performance and
poor conduct in class. Depending on the severity, students may
be kicked
off of the team or punished in other ways.
