Procedures

Math Requirements:
1.	Participate
Feel free to ask questions and share ideas in an orderly fashion
I will go over problems and homework. So, please allow for instruction time
before asking questions.

2.	Be prepared
Be on time to class.
Have all homework completed and out on desk—ready for class to begin.
You must bring your book to class everyday.
Sharpen pencils before class begins and thereafter only when given permission.
You must do all work in PENCIL. No erasable pens, markers or colored pencils.
Math is always open to improvements. So, be prepared to make corrections.

3.	Be respectful.
Respect yourself, others, your property, and the property of others.

4.	Be Responsible
Complete all assignments
.	Do all of your homework.
	Stay on task.

Homework
Complete all homework assignments. Homework is usually assigned 4 to 5
nights a week depending on the skills discussed. I am looking for the
work!! It is very important for problems to be worked out and answers to be
explained. Answers only will NOT be an option. Homework assignments will
consist of about 10 to 15 problems. In order for you to receive credit, it
is very important for you to attempt every problem and show all of your
work. We will check all of your work each day before we go over the
answers. Homework will count of your grade.

Test and Quizzes
Tests will be announced at least 2 days in advance. Quizzes may be announced
or pop. Study all notes, corrected-completed homework, and review pages at
the end of each chapter before a test. Correct and keep all returned tests
in your notebook.

Grading Guidelines
Grades will consist of homework, tests, class work, and quizzes.

Students’ grades will be calculated on a weighted grading system. Below is
the breakdown of how each student’s performance will be evaluated.
Homework: 10%
Class work: 25%
Quizzes: 30%
Tests/projects: 30%
9-week exam: 5%

Notebooks
Students will be expected to keep a notebook with all of their math
information located in that notebook. You must have loose-leaf notebook
paper. I will not accept paper torn out of a notebook with the torn edges.
Having an organized notebook will help in making your middle school years a
success.

Paper Heading and Set Up
1.	Write your name, page number of the assignment, and date on the top
right hand side of the paper.
2.	Always circle your final answers.

When you miss a problem, do the corrections on the right side of the paper.
Do not erase the wrong work. You need to compare the wrong and right way to
do the problem. You can learn from your mistakes.

Attendance/ Make Up Work
If you are absent on the day an assignment is given, you will be given 2 days
to turn in your work. If you are absent on the day an assignment is due or
on the day of a test, you are expected to turn in the work/complete the test
upon your return to school. Long-term illnesses will be considered on an
individual basis. Assignments will be listed on the board in a chart for the
entire week. Handouts missed will be in a folder on the student table near
the pencil sharpener. It is your responsibility to get the missed
assignments.

Books
Books must be covered. You are responsible for your textbooks and will be
responsible for purchasing or replacing your book if it is lost or damaged.

IN ADDITION:
You will sit in a forward upright position with your feet
and possessions under your desk.
This is a safety rule for the safety of everyone in the class.
Class is not dismissed by the bell, but by your teacher.
The teacher dismisses class.

Bookbags and Locker Breaks
Bookbags are stored in your locker. When you come to
school, put your bookbag in your locker and leave it until you leave for
connections classes. You are to take everything you are taking home
with you in your bookbag to connections classes. You will not be
allowed to come back to your locker after you leave for connections
without a pass from your teacher.

Locker breaks are different for different teams.
You need to write down what your teams procedure for locker breaks will be.
Also you need to learn which doors you may enter and exit at which
time. We will go to locker before homeroom, after second period,
and before connections classes.

Food and drinks
A. NO FOOD OR DRINKS – NOT EVEN WATER— IS ALLOWED IN THE
CLASSROOM.
No food or drinks may leave the cafeteria. You must dispose of any
drink container (if you bring one to school in the morning) BEFORE
entering the building.

LUNCH
A.. Students are to go to lunch in a single file
line quietly. Your teacher will explain the path you will
follow to go to the cafeteria.

B. You will have an assigned seat at your lunch table until
your class earns the opportunity to choose where to sit with your
lunch class.

C. Once YOU enter the lunchroom, you need to get in line, or if
you brought your lunch, sit down at the appropriate table. Get in
line only if you need to buy a drink and wait until your turn to
purchase it.
D. Stay in line with your class.
E. Once you get your lunch, sit down and STAY SEATED unless you
raise your hand and ask permission from a teacher on our team to get
up. Students may only go through the lunch line ONE time. MUST
STAY SEATED
F.	Stay seated until your teacher tells you to take your trays
up. The class will take their trays up as a group. No food or
drink may leave the cafeteria.

Assignments and turning in assignments

A. I do NOT take late work.
You will be given ample time to complete an assignment. You will
receive a zero if it is not turned in to me the day it is due. I will give
every student one late work pass per nine weeks. This will allow
you to turn in one assignment late and get full credit for it. If
not used, it may be turned in for a homework pass/10 bonus points. I
may assign silent lunch for not having an assignment completed. It
is due at the beginning of the class period. It is due when I call
for an assignment.

B. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER lay papers on my desk unless I
specifically point and say “put your papers here”. Otherwise
listen for directions. Usually I have a crate to collect papers in,
and you will place them in the appropriate crate.

C.	NEVER NEVER NEVER put papers on my desk. My desk is a
black hole in disguise and the papers will probably never be seen
again. If they are never seen again, what will your grade be?

D.	Never ever put a paper in my hand unless I have specifically
said, I am taking up papers so give them to me. I do not always
remember where my hand puts papers if I did not ask for them. {What
if they get laid on my desk!?!?}

F. Getting assignments at home If you forgot to take your
assignments home, you can access them at my website. Assignments
and dates are posted at the beginning of each week on my website or
you can go to the school website and find the link.

G. NO NAME PAPER POLICY:
No name papers will be put in a no name box and kept for one week.
It will be up to the student to find their paper and turn it in.
Five points will be deducted from the grade for not having it labeled
correctly.
