2. Quizzes are worth 20%
3. Homework is worth 5%
4. Classwork is worth 30%
5. All assignments are expected to be turned in on time. Late projects
may be accepted up to 2 days late with a deduction of 10 points for each
day.
6. Late homework will not be accepted without an excused absence.
Journals:
Everyday you will be given a Fact of the Day/CRCT question or journal topic.
After the tardy bell rings, you will be given the first 5 minutes to sit and
complete the FOD/CRCT/journal question quietly. If you finish early, read
quietly.
Once a month, there will be a FOD/CRCT quiz. This will be open notes
consisting of very specific questions. (Ex: What was the answer to question
2 on August, 7th?) I also check FOD notebooks on occasion. I am looking
that each entry has a date, The Fact of the Day, and the CRCT question with a
correct answer.
Procedures and Expectations
a. Come to class on time. If you come to class late without a pass, the
door will be locked and you will not be allowed in for a period of time and
you will be marked tardy. Even if you are talking to a teacher in the hall,
you need a pass to get into my class if you are late. YOU WILL BE MARKED
TARDY IF YOU COME TO CLASS TARDY WITHOUT A PASS. If you are tardy, you will
receive the consequences as stated by our Team.
b. Come to class prepared. Sharpen your pencil as soon as you get to class
if it needs it.
C. Check the board to see what supplies should be on your desk and place all
other items in the basket under your seat.
d. Come into class and sit quietly in your assigned seat and complete your
FOD/CRCT/Journal while I take roll. Prepare your mind to learn.
Hold your questions until instructions for the period have been given. At
the start of class, we both need a moment to get organized and ready for the
period. If you are standing at my desk, I am distracted and you are not
accomplishing anything. By waiting until instructions are given, we are both
ready for class and you will then receive my full attention.
e. During class, if I am not giving instructions, you may sharpen your pencil
by quietly getting up and sharpen it. Walk in the most direct line from your
seat to the sharpener. You do not have to ask permission to sharpen your
pencil. But remember when we are discussing, it IS disruptive to learning,
so wait until discussion is over.
f. If you have paper to throw away, follow the same procedure as sharpening
your pencil. However, remember the trash can is NOT a basket ball goal. If
you are tempted, wait until class is over.
g. During discussion, raise your hand to answer or ask a question. Wait to
be called upon to answer or ask. It is more conducive to learning.
h. If entering or leaving the room while another student is talking, walk
around the room and not in front of the class
I. You may not leave the classroom without using your frog card/pass. Unless
you are called over the intercom. In such case, I will give you a teacher
pass.
j. You are expected to behave in an orderly manner and respect yourself and
others at all times. You should respect other people’s property and space by
Keeping your hands to yourself. If you choose to behave in an inappropriate
or unacceptable manner, then the consequences set by our team will occur.
Think about the consequences before you act.
k. You will sit in a forward upright position with your feet and possessions
under your desk. This is a safety rule for the safety of everyone in the
class. "Spreading out" of papers or books causes accidents and/or may lead
to destruction of property. Keeping items neatly under your desk avoids
these issues.
l. Teachers dismiss class, not bells.
Book bags and Locker Breaks
Book bags are not allowed in the classroom. They are to be stored in your
locker. When you come to school, put your book bag in your locker and leave
it until you leave for connections classes. Ladies, this include purses
also. You will not be allowed to come back to your locker after you leave for
connections without a pass from your teacher.
Locker breaks are different for different teams. We will discuss break times
and rules for those breaks in class. Locker problems are not an excuse for
tardiness to class.
Food and drinks
A. NO FOOD OR DRINKS – NOT EVEN WATER— IS ALLOWED IN THE
CLASSROOM.
No food or drinks may leave the cafeteria. You must dispose of any
drink container (if you bring one to school in the morning) BEFORE
entering the building.
B. LUNCH
Students are to go to lunch in a single file line quietly. Your teacher will
explain the path you will follow to go to the cafeteria. Once YOU enter the
lunchroom, you need to get in line, or if you brought your lunch, sit down at
the appropriate table. Get in line only if you need to buy a drink and wait
until your turn to purchase it. Stay in line with your class.
Once you get your lunch, sit down and STAY SEATED unless you raise your hand
and ask permission from a teacher on our team to get up. Students may only
go through the lunch line ONE time.
Stay seated until your teacher tells you to take your trays up. The class
will take their trays up as a group. No food or drink may leave the
cafeteria.
Assignments and turning in assignments
A. I do NOT take late work.
You will be given ample time to complete an assignment. I will give Homework
passes throughout the year. This pass can only be used in my classroom and
gives full credit for a missed homework assignment. You will receive a zero
if you have no pass and the assignment is not turned in on time. I may
assign silent lunch for not having an assignment completed. Homework is due
at the beginning of the class period.
I expect all classwork to be completed on time. If you are present in class,
there is no excuse for work not to be turned in. I give no passes for
classwork.
B. Make sure your name and period number are located at the top of every
assignment.
C. NEVER lay papers on my desk. Listen for directions. I have trays that
are used to collect paperwork. It is your responsibility to make sure your
work is placed in the correct tray. Papers left on my desk may disappear
without my eyes ever seeing them.
D. Never hand me an assignment in the hallway or outside of class. Take the
extra second to place your work in the correct location. If in doubt as to
where an assignment should go, ASK.
