Most (not all) homework is class work that has not been completed - When
there is study homework, I will indicate this - frequently, science homework
is completion or renforcement.
Monday, August 8, 2011 - Science classes had a wonderful day - my students
are the BEST! A few sleepy heads, so try to get to bed and sleep early
tonight and eat a protein rich breakfast -
There is not any homework except to bring back signed papers from the packet
given out today - very important stuff- parents, please take a moment to
complete these important information sheets and send back with your child -
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 - Remember open house for PARENTS tomorrow night at
6:00. We would love to have you.
Wednesday, August 10 - no homework - just remember to bring textbook to class
tomorrow and 3rd and 4th period your workbooks - 1st and 2nd period will
receive their workbooks tomorrow -
Thursday, August 11 - complete defining vocabulary words on page 6 in
textbook - can write them in workbook page 9 - complete also, questions 1-4
on page 10 in workbook - Bring both completed workbook pages and text to
class tomorrow -
We need newspapers for class activity Friday - Thanks
For next Friday, August 19, we need donations of peanut butter jars and
jelly - we have an activity making peanut butter sandwiches - Thanks for any
help -
Monday, August 15 - Great activity day with qualitative and quantitative
observations - ask your student about this -
Must have vocabulary words complete and brought to class tomorrow to check -
Please remind your student to keep mind on business during locker breaks -
the DEmerit system has started as of this week - please remind your student

workbook - you should have almost completed this in class -

Wednesday, September 7 - Study to know the convergent current - it is on page
57 in workbook and the sheet you made in class - KNOW all of it
Thursday, September 8 - please bring back just the envelope with parental
signature - also, please bring in proof of residence as quickly as possible -
Monday, September 12 - Test Wednesday on pages 55 -59 in workbook - we
reviewed pages 55-57 today, study and know tonight - IF you have not
completed pages 58 and 59 in workbook, please do so - we will review tomorrow
and move on -
Tuesday, September 13 - Study and KNOW pages 55-59 - Everything we have
reviewed in class -
Wednesday, September 14 - There is not any homework -
Please be reminded of early release tomorrow, Thursday - Students will be
leaving school at 11:30 -
Friday, September 16 - Many of my science students have correction of low
test scores and some relearning this weekend - IF your student made below 8o
on the Wednesday test, he needs to correct the incorrect answer, write the
sentence or question 2 times each and Study to know, the information on this
test - The test questions were taken directly from the workbook pages 55-59
of which we had reviewed Monday and Tuesday - i will give a 10 question short
test from the 1st test - this grade will also count -
Many students are not studying nor listening in class - if they would focus,
and listen, the student would not need to study very much at home -

Please encourage your student to use the time wisely -
Please know I cannot retest all year, over and over - as I let the students
know what is going to be on the test, I feel strongly the low grades are from
the lack of attention and not spending any study time with the information at
home in a quiet place
Any support and encouragement from home will be appreciated -
Tuesday, September 20 - please study and know the 3 plate boundaries you
drew, we labeled, wrote facts about - you will have an identification quiz on
this info - you wrote it down, now learn it - should be easy- we spent the
entire class on this

Tomorrow, Friday is the last day for proof of residence to be turned in -

on Review sheet for exam next Tuesday, October 4
Tuesday, September 27 - complete the next 6 questions in your review sheet -
Wednesday, September 28 - My classes copied the correct answers from the
study guide on our board today - we then went over each question - In order
to get the students to study I will give a quiz over the questions covered
today - Please have your student sit quietly to think, study and learn info -
and perhaps call out a few random questions from the sheet to assess their
learning - they KNOW the content - talk to them about the subject we have
covered -

Friday, September 30 - Do study your notes - you have now been provided
sheets with the ANSWERS - reading over doesn't always work to learn - sit by
yourself in a quiet place, think about the subjects we have covered, get the
info in your minds' eye, and make yourself a pretend test - write down the
questions ( shorthand, you don't have to write out the entire question), take
a short break and then go back, answer your pretend test, and grade yourself -
IF you don't know the material, look some more, write down the info 3 or 4
times, - know it - get someone in your family to call out the questions Sat.

Handouts have been given out for 6 weeks on the forms to follow, library
books have been in the classroom on simple science experiments, etc. web
sites on internet have been suggested - this project grade is a major one for
the 9 weeks - the due date again is next Tuesday - sooner if completed -
there are not any late days on this project -
Backboards are not required UNLESS your student is completing a science
PROJECT and has spent the time for the project to be science fair quality-
Whether a science project or experiment, the activity needs to be written in
scientific method form - your student has had the forms for this for a few
weeks - another reminder and form was given out today-
