As you all know, Mrs. Murphy is no longer able to be our room mom. If you
are able to help our class out and be our room mom it would be greatly
appreciated!!!!!

Please be sure your child is working on the biography blab report. They must
have the information memorized when they are interviewed.

Our SOS - "Save our Science Lab" fund raising is going great. THANK YOU to
all of the parents that have donated. It is great to know that 100% of the
money you donate is going straight to your child's education! : ) Remember
to ask relatives to help support the school.

Ford Music News:
Starting Thursday January 19 all 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will need to start
bringing their recorders & folders to music class. If you do not have a
recorder, the PTSA is still selling them for $7. Please see Mr. Hurley for
details. (craig.hurley@cobbk12.org)

Please be sure your child is practicing multiplication EVERYDAY. If you just
flash cards or call out problems for about 5 minutes EVERYDAY it will REALLY
help your child to have success in math! I can't express how important this
is! I used to call out problems in the car to my boys while we were driving
from activity to activity.

Be sure to check your child's agenda on Friday, 1-13, for his/her report card.

We will be starting fractions in math. PLEASE continue to practice X EVERYDAY
with your child. It is so important, if the children do not know their facts
they will struggle with the rest of the new math skills we will be
introducing.

In reading we will be working on non-fiction text. Our writing genre will be
informational writing. We will be working on research. We will also have fun
with biographies!

The art room is in need of PLASTIC Gerber baby food containers with lids. If
you all have extras please send them to school with your child. Thanks.

Please have your child bring a chapter book to school each day. I want the
children reading as much as possible. It is so important!

Notice on the calendar that school pictures are 8-30.

Notes from the Science Lab
All students will need a plastic folder with prongs, any color and one dozen
pencils with latex free erasers. Students should bring these each time they
come to science lab.
On Science Lab days, students should wear tennis shoes.

Notes about parking
The Fire Marshall began writing Fire Lane parking violations on school
parking this week. A number of people have already received citations. The
Fire Marshall will continue writing these citations throughout the county
this school year. If you park by a curb that is painted red there is a risk
of being ticketed.
