Updated January 7th, 2009!
*Lots of stuff went home on Tuesday. Please return the conference forms as
soon as possible. I need to get them back so I can get my schedule all
situated for the week. Thanks for your help with this.
*The Revolutionary War project went home Tuesday as well. We went to the
Media Center today and looked at books. There was not a huge variety of books
on the people there. I have some websites on my webpage under the science and
social studies section. Feel free to use these to help you. Below is a list
of people to choose from. You do not have to follow this list if you already
had someone in mind.
Paul Revere
John Hancock
Samuel Adams
George Washington
King George III
Ben Franklin
Thomas Jefferson
William Penn
Peter Salem
Mercy Otis Warren
Mary Katherine
Elizabeth Freeman
Crispus Attucks
Marquis de Lafayette
General George Cornwallis
Benedict Arnold
General William Howe
King Louis XVI
Betsy Ross
James Oglethorpe
Ann Hutchinson
John Paul Jones
James Armistead
Sybil Zludington
*There are no spelling words this week! We do have a Social Studies test on
Friday though. It will be on Chapter 5. You can access the book through my
webpage but I will remind them to bring them home as well.
*Please make sure your child is prepared for class each day. We are using the
math and social studies books in class everyday. If they bring them home to
do their homework, they need to bring them back the next day. I will need to
move stars if not because they are not prepared for the day. Thanks for your
help with this as well.
*I was able to do the behavior folders again. I shrunk the form down so I
could fit four weeks on a page! Woo hoo! They will go home tomorrow and will
include behavior from the last week in December.
*We have reading logs again! Thanks to a parent, we have them for the rest of
the year! Woo hoo! Turn them in at the end of the month for a prize. Reading
is a prize too. I think I read 10 books over the break. I just couldn't stop
(Plus none of my tv shows were on! LOL).
*We are studying colonization and will move right into Revolutionary War. For
science we will be studying space. Writing and reading will include
informational and non-fiction genres. We will be hitting them hard!
Have a good one!
