Wow! What a fun day with Simple Machines! Ask your child about all the cool
things they did!
I want to compliment our class for being the first class to not only hold on
to the Golden
Lunchroom key but to make perfects 5's!!!!!!!!! That's why we work so hard on
our responsibility as a citizen and being great examples to others! I am so
very proud!!!!
Reading: I will be doing specific skills in reading and focusing on
Responding to Literature with writing. Many are still making mistakes on
those
tiny little details. We will begin our guided reading groups now that we
finished our simple machine books. The next novel study will be their
favorite:"kid's pick". I will let them choose our next novel.We have read 11
books in class and then they have read independantly. Ask your child how many
books they have read?
Math: The 2nd quarter we will continue on with double digit multiplication
and begin division using various strategies. Please note that this is a skill
we will hit on many times throughout the year! Also in this unit we will be
covering angles and analyzing 2-D figures. Keep working on those Math Mastery
facts! Also please make sure your child is working on the Firstinmath.com
program!
Spelling:
They will be doing various activities with the words over a two week
period. The words will always be posted in agenda and on the 4th grade
website.
English: We will know be focusing on specific parts of speech and how to
diagram sentences.
Writing: Responding to Literature I sent the letters off the the author of
the last book we read. I can't wait to get a response. The kids were very
excited about this!
Social Studies: Early Exploration: we will start with the Europeans coming to
North America and working on various higher level map/globe/atlas skills
Science: After I wrap up Simple Machine, we will move on to light and sound!
