Wow! What a great first impression of the class! I know we are going to have 
lots of fun learning!
Important Note: It is best to contact me by email! Your emails will be 
responded to promptly!
Snack: I don't schedule a time for snack. The children may eat snack anytime 
as long as it is not distracting. The kids may have popcorn, but please 
limit to a few days so I don't have all the kids wanting to pop it at the 
same time. 
SPECIALS ROTATION: Art, PE, PE, Music, PE
Our room moms this year will be Mrs. Toro and Mrs. Muccitelli Thank you so 
much!  I encourage and invite all parents to help throughout the year with 
the many activities I have planned. The more the merrier! A huge thank you 
also to Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Patel for being our copy moms! 
If your child is interested in being elected in our class government, please 
have the speeches completed by Monday August 25th. We will vote that 
afternoon.Please have your child tell you about it and class meetings!
Academic Focuses:
1st Quarter: This is a general overview. As we begin, I will list specific 
activites that are supporting these main objectives. 

Reading: We will be working on narrative text and poetry during the first 
nine weeks. We 
will focus on setting, character analysis, plot, and conflict.
Novel Book study: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing By: Judy Blume We will 
start this novel as a whole group lesson as I model literary jobs. Once I 
have gone through the jobs, I will organize them into ability groups.
Vocabulary: Context Clues

Language:I will introduce my "COPS" program with daily sentences and begin 
labeling sentences by subjects and predicates.
Types of Sentences and their purpose in writing. 

Social Studies: Physical features of the US and impacts of economics. 

Science: Water cyles and properties of water  (I will rotate science/ social 
studies every two weeks.)

Writing: Narrative writing which will include the 6 traits of writing as 
well as conventions in 
our every day writing. Main focus is voice with emphasis on point of view. 

Math: 1st 9 weeks
Place value to millions and hundreths. 
Expanded and standard notation of numbers. 
Multiplication with 3 by 2 digits 
Long Division
Rounding
Daily Word problems
