Top Ten Rules of Success in Sixth Grade

 

1. Arrive to class on time. Homeroom begins at 8:10 am. Tardy bell at 8:15

2. Bring all necessary materials and supplies to class.

3. Turn in all homework assignments on the due date.

4. Return all signed reports, forms and papers two days after teacher sends home.

5. Follow ALL dress code regulations. This also includes hair length.

6. Listen when teacher is talking.

7. Treat all classmates and teachers with respect and courtesy.

8. Walk, don’t run, and talk quietly when moving about the campus. Remain in the cafeteria during break and lunch. See a 6th grade teacher for permission to leave during break or lunch.

9. Listen and behave respectfully at all GWA special programs or events.

10. Act appropriately while on school field trips.

 

Ticket Information

1. Fill out your name in pen on the back of your ticket.

2. There will be no exchange of tickets among students. If you give another student tickets, ticket will be taken from you and also from the student who gave you the ticket.

3. Tickets will be a different color each nine weeks.

 

Earning Tickets

Tickets will be issued every week by each individual teacher.

To earn a ticket from each teacher, you must do the following:

 

1.     Be present the entire period in your class all week. (Especially on quiz or test day.)

2.  Have all assignments in your class for the entire week on the day the assignment is due. No weekly ticket is issued if any assignment is late or if your assignment was left at home.

3.  Bring back signed forms that all students receive to be signed.

4.  Good behavior by the entire grade level for the followings: General assemblies pep rallies, fund raisers, Veteran’s Day assembly, Christmas tree presentations and Yearbook presentation.

5. If you are absent due to illness for a lengthy period (week), you will receive a ticket when all makeup work, quizzes and tests are completed.

6. Washed or lost tickets will not be replaced. Tickets must be kept in planner notebook.

 

CONSEQUENCES FOR BREAKING A TOP TEN RULE:

After receiving a warning from the teacher,

Each time a student breaks a rule he/she will:

 

a. Sign the Behavior Record book for the appropriate teacher

b. Lose one ticket.

c. Lose one break.  

d. Write an essay during each lost break (1st break-100 words; 2nd break-200 words; 3rd break-300 words, etc.)

 

You will give up a ticket only for the following actions:

1. Going to the bathroom or water fountain during class.

2. Leaving items in classroom or hallway. Leaving book bags in hallway.

3. Failing to fill in your planner and/or bring your planner to each class.

4. Failing to properly maintain your locker or bothering anyone else’s locker

5. Tardy to homeroom-8:15.  You must be in your seat when the tardy bell rings

6. Tardy to your class without reason. You must have a note from the teacher sending you to class late.

7. Dress code violation and hair length violations – Sent to Mrs. Hanson’s office with a Dress Code Violation Report.

8. Not having 100% of your homework or parent note regarding missing homework.

 

Each sixth grade teacher will issue one ticket at the beginning of each week. You will also have other opportunities to earn tickets such as returning progress reports and report cards signed the next day, attending every class every day, behaving at GWA programs, behaving on field trips, and other actions teachers determine deserve a ticket.

At the end of each nine weeks, students who have eight tickets left will be eligible to attend a special event at the end of each nine week grading period.
