The 2007-08 Glynn County School year calendar includes a later start that
past school years and as a result, the semester was extended six days after
the holiday break. When the first semester exam schedule was planned, it
was clear that sending students home for a two week break and then giving
them their final semester exams would be counter productive to our students’
academic performance. As a result both GA and BHS will be giving final exams
prior to the Holiday Break. The Glynn Academy exam schedule is as follows:

Monday, December 17th, - 0 period at 7:30 am and 9th period during after
school class times
Tuesday, December 18th - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period exams
Wednesday, December 19th	- 8th, 7th, 6th, and 5th period exams

On Tuesday and Wednesday, any students who have completed their exams are
free to leave campus at the conclusion of all testing at 12:15 p.m.
providing they have parent provided or approved transportation. Freshmen
will be required to bring a note to the Freshmen Academy office on each day
the plan to leave early. Upper school students are free to leave at 12:15
p.m., as they have in past years by promptly leaving campus at 12:15 p.m.
All freshmen who bring notes and all upper school students are not required
to stand in line to check out; they are simply free t o leave.

Students who do not have parent provided or approved transportation will be
supervised by teachers and administrators until the end of the respective
school day when buses are scheduled to take them home. On Tuesday buses
will pick up students at the normal time of 3:15 p.m. On Wednesday, Dec. 19,
an Early Release Day, students will be picked up two hours early at 1:15
p.m. to take all students home for the holiday break.

Please know that the official end of the first semester is January 10, 2008,
and when we return for the break there will be six days remaining in the
first semester. We had originally announced that the first semester would
end at the break; however, we have altered form our original plans to allow
for additional instruction and intervention opportunities for students who
may benefit from the additional time.

Again we hope the second half of the school year is even better than the
first! Please feel free to contact Glynn Academy if you have any questions
or if we can provide additional assistance!

May your holidays be merry, happy and safe.

Mix It Up Day!!

When: Tuesday, November 13th during lunch-both Freshman lunches will be
combined for a 50-minute lunch period from 10:30 – 11:20.

What: The purpose of Mix It Up Day is to have students connect with
different people than they normally “mix” with. Mix it up is a project that
supports student efforts to identify, question, and cross social boundaries
within their schools.

How: Guardian Terrors will be sitting throughout the cafeteria and outside
waiting for their mentorees to join them for lunch. The Guardian Terrors
will hand out Mardi Gras beads to their mentorees, which will be exchanged
when students participate. Guardian Terrors will support and encourage
intermingling between groups. The goal is for students to get different
color beads from their peers in different groups by sharing and learning
something about someone new.

Why: Interaction across group lines can help reduce prejudice and improve
intergroup relations. Students thrive socially and academically in
environments that are inclusive.

Who: All freshmen students are encouraged to participate, as well as
Freshmen Academy Teachers and the Guardian Terrors. Let’s ALL “Mix It Up!”
and have a Blast.

Music/D.J. by our very own “M. C. Carter”
Prizes will be awarded for participation!!!
