Orientation

July 28, 2009

Dear Freshman Students and Parents:
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to Glynn Academy and our
Freshman Academy. The Freshman Academy is in place to help ninth grade
students transition smoothly to high school. The Freshman Academy is
a “small learning community” that provides each of our students the
opportunity to get to know their teachers, counselors, and administrators
better. Our goals are to improve academic success through promotion rates,
improve each student’s self-perception, increase involvement in
extracurricular activities, and reduce discipline infractions.

With the school year quickly approaching, we are about to embark on what we
know will be a rewarding and successful beginning to four great years at
Glynn Academy for our Freshmen students. Studies show that ninth grade is
the most difficult grade level for students. We want to make the transition
from middle to high school as smooth as possible and assist our students and
parents in this process.

We would like to invite you and your student to our 2009 Freshman Orientation
on Tuesday, August 4th. The Freshman Academy Orientation has proven to be a
very rewarding and enriching experience over the past two years. The evening
will begin in the Glynn Academy auditorium at 6:00. At this time, Glynn
Academy administrators will discuss valuable information that every parent
and student needs to know. Following the information session, we will then
dismiss each parent and student to attend their classes for 15 minutes each!
Every parent and student will attend all four classes this evening and have
the chance to meet each of their teachers and learn about the teachers
classroom expectations. We encourage all of our parents to attend the
orientation with their students. The Freshman Academy leadership team and
staff make it a point to work closely with our parents. We know that in
order for us to be a successful school, we must have the full commitment of
our faculty, students, and parents.

We will work diligently to provide each ninth grade student a successful
transition from middle to high school. We look forward to seeing you at
Freshmen Orientation on August 4th! If you have any questions, please call
our Freshman Academy Secretary, Mrs. Adams, at 267-4210, ext 3217.

Sincerely,

Steve Waters, Director
Glynn Academy Freshman Academy
