What do students do in Horizons?
Students attend Horizons approximately four hours each week. One hour is spent on problem solving. (Fourth and fifth grade students - Math Olympiad; second and third grade students - Figure It Out: Thinking Like a Math Problem Solver) Another hour is spent on the Junior Great Books curriculum. When are students tested for the gifted program?
Gifted testing occurs twice a year - fall and spring. Only students who are new to Columbia County schools are tested in the fall. If a student is tested in the fall and is accepted into the program, they usually begin attending Horizons second semester.Back to Top
