What do students do in Horizons?

Students attend Horizons approximately four hours each week.
One hour is spent on problem solving. (Fourth and fifth
grade students - Math Olympiad; second and third grade students -
Figure It Out: Thinking Like a Math Problem Solver)
Another hour is spent on the Junior Great Books
curriculum. The remaining time is spent working on the
current unit of study.
You can find more information on Junior Great Books and Math
Olympiad on the Links page.

When are students tested for the gifted program?

Gifted testing occurs twice a year - fall and spring. Only
students who are new to Columbia County schools are tested in the
fall. If a student is tested in the fall and is accepted into the
program, they usually begin attending Horizons second semester.
