Wednesday- Reading check ch. 3-4; continue sentence types

Thursday- Read ch. 5 in class; discuss; continue sentence types

Friday- visit GHS and pep rally

Week of November 9th

Monday- write rough draft on Fast Food Restaurants; computer lab for study guide

Tuesday- self edit and revise; write final copy

Persuasive Essay Quiz

Thursday- New topic- timed 100 minutes for complete essay

Friday- complete essay

Week of November 2nd

Monday- Persuasive Standards; Persuasive text- "I Have A Dream" p. 573; follow on audio and write persuasive sentences; summarize using acrostic- I HAVE A DREAM

Tuesday- begin persuasive power point slides 1-12 and summarize; make step book on persuasive literary elements with definitions and examples

Wednesday- continue ppt slides 13 to end; emotional appeals; complete step book

Thursday- persuasive packet- organization, thesis statement and parallel sentences

Friday- begin prewrite on first persuasive essay

Week of October 26th

Monday- Tell Tale Heart

Tuesday- Meet with Mrs. Tracy to explain final expository essay; prewrite

Wednesday- Write rough draft on sound waves

Thursday- peer edit rough draft and begin typing

Friday- complete typing essay

Week of October 19th

Monday- type hobby essay on laptop; begin phrases and clauses

Tuesday- Share essay on doc camera for feedback; graded on idea, organization, and style

Wednesday- Bookfair; share essays

Thursday- complete sharing essays; phrases and clauses

Friday- final expository essay prompt; Mars or Holiday

Week of October 12th

Monday- DGP; review tools for voice using ppt; discuss figurative language and show writing samples; write paragraph to practice; share

Tuesday- DGP; complete handprint on tools for grade; 2nd essay- give prompt and prewrite on web to include level 1, 2, & 3 sentences

Wednesday- DGP; write intro/body/closing paragraphs

Thursday- DGP; peer edit for grade; revise essay

Friday- type final copy of essay

Week of October 5th

Monday- DGP; research resources- carousel to summarize from readings; grammar study guide

for exam- due Wednesday

Tuesday- DGP; vocab review for exam; begin 2nd expository essay and focus on style; 5 senses

Wednesday- DGP; go over grammar study guide for exam; essay- personalize it and dialogue- see packet

Thursday- Figurative language- complete packet pages; remediate pronouns; review for exam

Tuesday- model teacher intro; students write their intro
