Welcome to Mrs. Fiebiger's Art Smarts art history test. There are fifty pictures
of famous works of art (please allow a few minutes for them to load if you are on
a slow connection). Underneath each one is a menu with four choices of artists.
You can guess as many times as you need to. For each wrong answer, you will lose
points, but don't worry, you will get twenty points when you get the right answer.
For this test to work, you have to have popups enabled - if you have a popup
blocker installed, please turn it off before starting the test, and make sure your browser is set to allow popups. Each time you
guess, you will get a popup that tells you whether you were right and what your
score is. Note that if you accidentally make the same guess twice, your score
will not change. When you've correctly answered all fifty questions, the popup
will also tell you your final percentage score.
The paintings, sculptures, buildings, (and one park) represent a cross-section of
the artistic achievements of Western culture over the last five centuries. They are in vaguely
chronological order, with the more modern ones appearing later, but this is far
from exact. Also, a few of them have been deliberately placed out of order to
catch the unwary!
If you use a mouse with a scroll wheel to scroll, make sure you click on something
outside of any selection boxes before you scroll - otherwise, the test will think you are
trying to make a guess. If you haven't gotten the right answer yet for the box you are in,
you could lose points this way.
Here is a link that will open a page with a little bit of information about
each artist in the test (and a few others) to help you figure out the answers:
Note that there are more artists than pictures. Most of the artists listed have one picture in the test,
but some have none and a few have more than one.
