What determines the grade on my report card?

Each individual piece of work is scored out of 100%. Then it fits in a
particular category: test, assignment, binder, or quiz. Each category
weighs a percent of the overall grade: tests - 35%; assignments - 35%,
binder - 15%, quizzes - 15%. To calculate your grade, average all your
tests, then multiply the average by 35%. Do the same for the other
categories. Then take the total for each of the four categories, add them
up, and that is your grade. You cannot average all your grades together,
because the 3-4 tests that you take will be weighed more than the 5-7
quizzes you take.

How can I receive an A on my report card?

To receive an A, your average must be between a 90 - 100. A B is 80 - 89, a
C is 73 - 79, a D is 70 - 72, and below a 70 is an F. Complete all
assignments, study for tests and quizzes, keep your binder organized, go to
tutoring if you need extra help, and that should assure you an A!

Do you accept late work?

I accept late work up to ONE DAY past the original time due. That means if
an assignment is due on Tuesday, Wednesday is the last day you can turn it
in to receive credit. As in the working world, consequences follow for
responsibilities that are not met. Therefore, all late work will be graded
starting at 85% instead of 100%.

What should I do if I don't understand the homework?

So you don't receive a low grade due to incomplete work, write a brief
explanation about WHY you don't understand. It should start with "I don't
understand because..." - please complete the sentence! Then tell me what
you did to try to figure out the problem (reread notes, asked Mom, etc). If
you are leaving a large portion of the assignment incomplete, try to come in
for tutoring in the morning so you can get extra help. If it is only one or
two problems, you can ask during class. You know we always go over the work
the next day, so don't spend hours and hours struggling with a one-night
assignment!
