WELCOME TO 7TH GRADE
I have been very impressed with the students behaviour and attitudes!  I am 
looking forward to a great year!
My website was down until yesterday, so I hope it is up and working now. My 
classroom expectations and grading system went home with your student today.
THe first homework assignment is due tomorrow.  A decorated file folder with 
Life Science theme was assigned.  Other than 1st period, all classes had 
time to work on the assignment
in class yesterday and they can take it home tonight to complete.  It is due 
tomorrow 
and will be graded based upon neatness, attractive, colorful and Science 
theme.
Thanks for your enthusiasm and support.

August 20 - 25
 Monday - Today we will begin with a Question of the day.  The question of 
the day will focus on key terms and concepts being discussed in class.  Each 
morning when your student comes to class a QOD will be on the board. The 
students are to copy the question down and they may use their notes or their 
books to answer the questions.  I will post the questions on my web site.  
If the student is absent they are responsible to either check the website or 
get the question from another student.  At the end of the week I will 
collect papers and this will count as a daily grade.  Test questions will 
come from the QOD.
Monday - What phrase or saying helps you remember the order of the units in 
the Metric System?
Please make sure your student has covered his/her Science book
Tuesday - When converting from one unit to the next, what saying helps you 
remember which way to move the decimal?

REQUIREMENTS for a project on the human body went home today. The students 
need to let me know what organ and disease they are chosing for their 
project before the holidays.  We will be going to the computer lab on Nov. 
26 and the library on Nov 27.  The due date is not until Dec 13th, but I 
wanted the students to chose their topic so that they will be able to start 
work on Monday the 26th.

Many thanks to those who donated to our angel tree project!!  We were able 
to provide 2 outfits, tennis shoes, notebook for keeping Pokemon cards in, 
and a TMNT hover shell.   

We will be disecting frogs next Wednesday, if anyone is able to donate a box 
of gloves, that would be appreciated.  Thanks for your generosity.

Please complete "WHo are We" worksheet over the weekend.  THis involves 
asking students about traits inherited from their parents.  If unable to 
complete due to deceased parent, single parent, etc. please let me know.  We 
will be using these for a project involving more detail later.

strip) of a bacteria or virus went home today.  This is due Friday March 21.

suffix's we have been reviewing in class

Monday March 24- review for quiz on bacteria and virus's.  CRCT practice
Tuesday March 25 - GIFTED - Rules for debate project went home.  If your 
student is absent the day of the debate Thursday April 3 a 3 page typed 
paper on the opposing viewpoint will need to be turned in.  Grade for the 
debate will be 1. participation in the debate 2. points earned during debate 
3. outline and notes turned in.  We are starting on Chapter 7 and the 
students will be taking opposing viewpoints on Evolution vs. Creationism or 
Intelligent Design.  CRCT will have 15% of questions this year on this 
topic.  I am looking forward to hearing these debates!!
Regular science classes will be studying Chapter 7 also and CRCT practice 
daily.

Monday April 14- Hope everyone is well rested and ready to finish out the 
last six weeks of school.  In preparing for Crct next week, please make sure 
your student brings to school two sharpened #2 pencils.  Be sure to be on 
time and have eaten a healthy breakfast or snack.  
We are starting a unit on animals to finish the year out.  Definitions for 
Chapter 15 are due tomorrow if not completed in class.  A project will be 
going home tomorrow which will count as a major test and needs parent 
signature.  THe students will be working on these after CRCT when they have 
an abbreiviated schedule.  The due date will be Wednesday April 30.  
The debates were overall very good and many students conveyed to me they 
would like to do another one.
