| 10/10/08 We had our exciting visit today from Dr.Stephen Burnett! Lots of questions were answered
and we certainly learned a lot. We even saw REAL dead bats!! Kids should be working on their project
which are due November 11th.
9/30/08 Bright orange project sheets were sent home today. Please discuss and pick a project that
excites your child. There is a slip to return next week. Projects are due on November 11th.
Next week, Target will be on Friday, October 10th. Dr. Stephen Burnett, a professor of biology at
Clayton University and an expert in bats, is coming to visit. Friday is the only day he can come, thus the
switch. We are all very excited to hear and see what he will bring!
9/23/08 Some terrific bats were created today for the A-Wing atrium. There is no homework.
9/16/08 We exercised our abstract thinking today and built bat wings. Some of the kids have brought
them home to finish, so if you see something resembling a black trash bag with Popsicle sticks taped
on it, don't throw it away! It's a bat wing!
9/9/08 Some eager students took a gentle nine-grid Sudoku home today. It is not homework, but
certainly worth the thrill of a challenge. Children are also reporting bat sightings. They are becoming
quite knowledgeable on our topic.
9/2/08 Thank you, parents, for promptly returning all forms. The "Things that Hang" activity was fun to
share. The children have a new activity to complete. They are to design a cave that would be perfect for
their needs (directions on back of Sudoku puzzle in binder).
8/18/08 Welcome back to Target! The children are to make a list of things that "hang." They have a
ditto, and
we brainstormed about 15 items to start off. In seven days see if your child can think of 70 items. How
about 100!?! Please view the tally and sign it. There are also several papers in the tally pocket for your
attention.
