This year I am looking forward to spending my sixteenth year in the
classroom, my thirteenth in Cobb County, and my seventh at KMHS!
As a teacher, my goals are to motivate my students to
* become life-long learners.
* not just memorize information, but analyze and apply what they have
learned to real-life scenarios.
* appreciate that learning is not always easy, but is truly worth the
effort.
* value the meaning of the inequality: work input > work output.
* to place greater significance on learning information than on a
numerical grade.
Research and Internship:
Magnet Advanced Scientific Research will be blocked with Advanced Science
Internship. Emphasis for this course will be in-depth scientific research
skills, scientific writing, and data analysis. Culmination of this course
will be a scientific paper which will be presented to a faculty/ community/
research panel. Prerequisites are two math and/or science AP courses.
Magnet Advanced Scientific Internship places heavy emphasis on scientific
applied research. Students will be required to develop a worksite/research
topic. Students will prepare an electronic portfolio and multi-media
presentation for the course. Prerequisites are two math and/or science AP
courses
Physics:
This course will be beneficial as you attempt to thoroughly understand how
and why objects work and move the way they do. Physics is a lab-oriented
course that includes topics related to matter, energy and their interactions.
Emphasis is on conceptual understanding, problem solving, laboratory
application of skills to a mathematical application of the theories and laws
governing the interactions of matter, energy and the forces of nature.
In order to be successful in physics, problems must be solved and concepts
must be reviewed on a daily basis.
