I was born and raised in Augusta and attended public school. I was
fortunate to have some of the best teachers in Richmond County. I graduated
from the Academy of Richmond County in 1972.
I attended Augusta College and earned a degree in History and Education.
I have recently completed my Masters degree in Education with a emphasis on
History.
I married James Griffin in 1975. We have two grown children who still live
and work in this area.
I have worked for the Columbia County Board of Education in many
capacities. I worked first as paraprofessional, then as a substitute and
finally as a teacher in 1992.
I began my teaching career at Evans High School, where I finished out the
year for a teacher whose husband was transferred. In the Fall of 1992 I moved
to my present teaching position at Lakeside.
After teaching World and U.S. History for 16 years, I will be working on a
new challenge this year. Lakeside has added five AP World History classes
for the 2007-2008 school year. This is the first time that AP World History
has been taught in Columbia County. This summer I attended the AP World
History Summer Institute. I learned so much and have returned eager and
excited to teach this new course. I have been preparing all summer to make
this a challenging and successful year for my students.
I love teaching and feel priviledged to be working at Lakeside High School.
The faculty, staff and student body are without a doubt the best anywhere.
We study the past, to understand the present and plan for the future.
My mission is to help students understand and appreciate the past and the
part it has played in creating the world and country they live in today.
