About The Teacher

I was born and raised in Augusta, Ga where I attended public school. I was
fortunate to have some of the best teachers in Richmond County. I graduated
from the Academy of Richmond County in 1972.

I attended Augusta College(now Augusta State) and earned a degree in
History and Education. In 2006 I completed my Masters degree in Education
with an emphasis in History.

I married James Griffin in 1975. We have two grown children who still live
and work in this area. In 2008 our first grandchild was born.

I have worked for the Columbia County Board of Education in many
capacities. I worked first as paraprofessional, then as a substitute teacher
and finally as a teacher beginning in 1992.

I began my teaching career at Evans High School, where I finished out the
year for a teacher whose husband was transferred. In the Fall of 1992 I moved
to my present teaching position at Lakeside High School.

After teaching World and U.S. History for 16 years, I attended the AP World
History Institute at Kennesaw State and began teaching AP World History in
the Fall of 2007. In AP World History students are challenged by the
rigorous curriculum as they acquire the skills and content knowledge
necessary to take the AP World History Exam in the Spring.

I love teaching and feel priviledged to be working at Lakeside High School
with the best faculty, staff and students anywhere.

Mission For The Class

We study the past, to understand the present and plan for the future.
My mission is to help students understand and appreciate the past and the
part it has played in creating the world and country they live in today.
