Drill TeamLEGION T-shirts on sale now. All $$ due by 15 Oct. Cost is $16. Visit the LEGION wear tab to see these awesome shirts. The LEGION sleepover is 31 October. Parents - please send in a bag of candy. Cadets report to JROTC portable at 4:30pm. Please pick them up by 10am on Sunday. This sleepover will provide hours of practice time for our very first competition on Saturday, 15 November. It also promotes camaraderie amongst the team. Please support this event. One person out of place puts the entire team behind!!! LEGION practice is Tue/Thu, 3 - 5:30pm. Beginning 8 Nov 09, practice is Mon/Wed/Fri, 3 - 5pm. After Christmas LEGIONnaires practice every day except Wed., 3 - 5pm. The New LEGION schedule is posted at the handouts tab. Feel free to print it out and post. Each Legionnaire has a copy. The LEGION has a sleepover on 31 October to prepare for the upcoming competition at the Citadel in Charleston, SC. Please bring money for dinner at McDonald's. Parents are encouraged to send in drinks and snacks to help sustain the cadets durinf the ALL night practice. Please feel free to drop in to see how your cadets is coming along on the team. Legionnaires report to the JROTC portable at 4pm. Remember to return permission slip. The sleepover packing list is at the handouts tab.

WOW! The LEGION has done it again. 1st place in exhibition drill at the 2009 Nationals. 3rd place overall. GO LEGION!!
The LEGION currently practices from 3:15 - 5:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
The Cedar Shoals Drill Meet is Sat, 7 Feb. The bus is departing LHS at 5am. Cadets (females and those not attending the ball) are reminded to bring uniform items to portable on Thu, 5 Feb 09. This is an overnight trip so pack accordingly (see packing list on "handouts" tab). Bring at least $20 for food. We will provide breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Bring plenty of snacks. We will eat at Golden Coral or Ryans on Saturday night after the competition. We should get back to LHS by noon on Sunday.
The Columbia County Drill Meet will be rescheduled. Date is TBD.
Happy New Year!! The LEGION has a sleepover at LHS on Friday, 9 Jan. Salley-Wagener High School is visiting on Sat, 10 Jan at Noon. All team memebers are asked to participate. Pack your LEGION T-shirt and windsuit to wear on Saturday.
The LEGION is hosting its Annual Season Kickoff on Saturday, 12 December 2009 at Leitner Lake on Fort Gordon. We have rented the 4 RVs for the ladies to sleep in. We have an adult caperone in each RV. The guys will pitch tents on the site next to the RVs with two male chaperones. There is NO SWIMMING allowed (too cold anyway
), however fishing is allowed. Bring your fishing gear if you have it. The cost is only $10 per cadet and will cover the rental fees and all meals. I will take cadets to the lake via school bus that departs LHS at 2pm. NO CADETS ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE TO THE LAKE. Please visit the "Handouts" page for the permission slip (sent home on 10/12 Nov) and strip maps. ALL LEGION PARENTS ARE INVITED to come out during the day for the cookout which begins at 1pm. The 8-Block will perform after lunch. ALL cadets will be back at the school by 2pm on Sun, 13 Dec. This event fosters camaraderie and teamwork. Thanks in advance for your support.1 Sep 09-Our 1st competition is approaching very fast. We are competing at the Bulldog Drill Meet at the Citadel in Charleston, SC on 18 Oct 08. We are headed out at 10:00am on Friday, 17 Oct to arrive at the Citadel early afternoon. We will check in (We're staying on the campus at no charge) and the watch the Citadel Retreat Parade at 4:20pm. The competition begins at 8am on Saturday, 18 Oct 08. Immediately following the competition, the cadets receive a tour of the Citadel. We depart Charleston at 7am on Sunday, 19 Oct and should be back at LHS by noon. Any parents interested in chaperoning, please contact me ASAP. Cadets need only bring money for food (About $20.00). Permission slips go home on Tuesday, 30 Sep 08. ALL THREE TEAMS ARE COMPETING INCLUDING THE COLOR GUARD.
Progress reports are out. ALL LEGION team members MUST be sure to give me a copy. More than one F keeps you from practicing until grade(s) improve. One F puts you on probation for 10 school days to improve the grade. Remember, school comes 1st. LEGION Members have until Friday, 12 Sep to turn in the progress report or NO PRACTICE until the progress report is turned in. Sign up for tutoring if you need help. Tutoring is M - F, 7:00-7:40am and T/TH 3:00-3:30pm. Cadets may also get tutoring during C lunch. All tutoring is in the JROTC portables.
Dear Parents and Cadets. The LEGION is going to the Gordon Club on Fort Gordon to practice on Tue/Thu 26/28 August and Thu 4 September. The bus will depart LHS at 2:45 and we will return by 5:45pm (6:30pm on 4 SEP- we're stopping at the Post Exchange for ice cream following the practice). A portion of the team is performing at the prestigiuos Instructor Ball and must practice at the club. As a result the entire team will practice at the club. Please allow your cadet the extra 15 mins for travel time. Thanks so much for your support and understanding. If time permits, we will make an ice cream stop at the BAskin Robbins on post.
Our 1st night practice is this Friday, 29 August. Please pick up your cadet at Midnight. Again, I appreciate your support. If you are unable to be here at this time, please let me know as I may be able to give your cadet a ride home.

The LEGION has been so busy this summer. They performed at the Signal Ball on 20 June and earned Coins of Excellence from the Commanding General Gen Foley and CSM Clark and an awesome plaque. The LEGION is appearing at the Independence Day celebration on Barton Field, Fort Gordon on 3 July. Performance times are 7:15 and 8:15pm. Our final show is at the Harley Davidson's Independence Blast on Saturday, 5 July at 12 noon. Come out and support the LEGION. Drill camp is 15 - 18 July, (9:30am - 1:30pm) and Leadership Camp is 29 July - 1 August. Look for letters in the mail real soon. Raider team practice begins on 9 Jul at 7am on Mon, Wed, and Fri. All Freshman cadets are invited to attend.

State Champions in Exhibition Drill and Individual Drill (Tara Wilcox). Other wins include: 2nd Place Individual Exhibition (Kim McCracken), 3rd Place Squad Standard Drill, 5th Place Dual Exhibition (Shaun Roberts and Anthony Rincione).
The Legion competed at Region Area 4 Drill Meet on 10 March. We did very well. Here are our wins: 1st Place Sqd Standard Our next competition is the Georgia Army State at Fort Gordon on 24 March. Come and support your Legion Drill Team!! The Drill Team placed 2nd inExhibition Drill and 4th in Regulation Drill at Clemson(24 FEB) last week and placed 3rd in Exhibition and 3rd overall this weekend (3 Mar) in Dahlonega. The Legion brought home 7 trophies!! Way to go DT!! Individual trophies went to: c/SSG William Kenney - 1st Place in Individual Exhibition Drill and 1st Place Knockout c/2LT Tara Wilcox - 2nd Place Individual Exhibiton Drill c/SFC Keri Dobson - 3rd Place Knockout Please use the packing list on the handouts page for the sleepover this weekend. I need all cadets to stay. Please get your paperwork in. The 100.00 payment for the Nationals is due on 9 March. Please get all of your paperwork signed. Remember that the medical statement MUST be notorized. We have Saturday practice on 17 March at 2pm - 3pm for Color Guard and 3pm - 5pm for Drill Team. Free Pizza for all who attend. I will host two more sleepovers/team practices this season on 9 and 23 March. These sleepovers are on the nights before our last competitions (Area 4 at EHS on 10 March and State at Fort Gordon on 24 March). Please plan to attend these practices. We will depart from the school on the following mornings. Your team needs you present for the practices. Look for the permission slips soon. There is NO COST for these competitions. A lunch and light breakfast will be provided for each of these competitions. Parents, please consider sending in food, drink, or dessert item for dinner during the sleepovers. Thank you in advance. Effective 12 FEB 07, in addition to the regular schedule (Check it out below for minor changes), the Drill Team will also practice on Wed 7:10 - 7:40am. Ladies, wear a T-shirt under your class B shirt or bring one that you can practice in. Notify me personally if you can not make this practice (10-block members).
Effective, Monday 4 December, practice for Drill Team is Mon 3:00 -4:00pm and Fri 3:00 - 4:30; Tues and Thurs 3:00 - 5:00pm. Drill Team members on the Color Guard will report for CG practice from 3 - 4 and then report to DT practice from 4-5pm.
