Hi,
I hope all of you are enjoying this nice weather. I wanted to update you on
some of our latest standards/activities:
Language Arts- We are discussing blends and digraphs. The children are doing
really well with this concept. We are also working on word families and will
be introducing compound words during this time as they are doing so well with
all the concepts. We are discussing standards during our story time such as
fiction/nonfiction, beginning, middle, and end of the story, characters,
setting, etc. We are working on writing good sentences. (starting with
beginning capitalization, spacing between words, ending punctuation.)
Math- We are working on our measurement unit with nonstandard units. We are
still working on identifying coins/values and making small amounts of change.
Please continue to reinforce these skills at home. We are working on problem
solving skills during calendar rap time and math journals.
Social Studies- We are working on map skills at this time. We are working on
learning our global address. (address, county, state, country, and
continent.) We are working on identifying land and water on a map as well as
cardinal directions. We are working on identifying land and water on our big
atlas.
