Dear Parents and Students,
We're well into the second nine weeks of school! Thanksgiving and winter
break are quickly approaching. Ms. Reardon's birthday/baby shower was a
success. Thank you to all the participating families. I know Ms. Reardon was
very surprised and appreciative of everything. Also, thank you to Jeanne
Holley for helping us with Bat Day and the shower! The students seemed to
have a great time on our YMCA field trip as well.
Ms. Reardon is officially on her maternity leave, and we are very lucky
to have Mrs. Andrea Waters joining us until she returns. I will let you know
when Baby Joey is born :)
We are well underway in our Civil War study. The acceleration projects
are due Monday, November 16. We can't wait to see them! The Civil War is
always an exciting unit because we have so many local resources to
use. We will begin reading Civil War novels in our reading groups. In math we
will be working with fractions, analyzing data, and continuing to work on
algabreic reasoning. In Reading and Language Arts we are learning strategies
to read for information as well as writing an informational paper. We are
studying verbs - linking, action, and helping.
We would also like to thank all of you who have made a donation to the
Mountain View Foundation. These contributions go directly to staffing our
computer lab with a full time instructor who is capable of teaching your
children the skills they need to be proficient in technology use.
