Dear Parents and Students,
My name is Stacey Osborne and I will be teaching your child’s fourth
grade class this year. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive
year with my new students.
Let me begin by telling you a little bit about myself. I graduated
from Kennesaw State University with my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood
Education. Additionally, I just completed my Master’s degree in Educational
Leadership with a Technology Concentration also from Kennesaw State
University. Go Owls! For the fifth summer, I participated in the Northwest
Georgia Science Education Partnership Grant. This grant is through Kennesaw
State University and informs those involved of the most up to date science
practices and for the past 3 years I was given the opportunity to be a facilitator for
the grant. I currently live in the Vinnings area with my my mutt puppy, Reagan. In my spare time I
enjoy running by the river with my puppy, traveling, reading, and spending time with my family and
friends.
My teaching experience has been in the intermediate grades. This is
my seventh year at Mountain View, and this will be my first year coming back to fourth grade, the
previous 4 years were spent teaching 5th grade and the prior two years I taught the fourth grade. I
also previously taught fourth grade at Panter Elementary in Paulding County. This year will be my
fourth year of taking on the Science Olympiad team. I am proud to say that last year
our team placed in the top 10 in the state competition! Keep your eyes and ears open
for information on this exciting and beneficial program.
This year we will be focusing on some exciting topics. Some of the
topics that we will be learning about include the Revolutionary War, U.S. Government, Space, Weather
and writing in different genres. I will also be focusing on reading in the classroom and at home. The
students will be required to complete a weekly reading log and have a parent initial when the week is
complete. I also feel that integrating technology into the classroom is beneficial and I try to integrate
it as often as possible, in fact, I was awarded a $2000 grant from Best Buy where I was able to
purchase many cool items for the classroom. So watch out for your child’s work that uses technology.
I encourage and implement supportive feedback in the classroom. I have found that supportive
and positive feedback works to encourage wanted behaviors. Supportive feedback may include verbal
praises, positive notes home, and awards or certificates.
Every Friday the students will be bringing home their graded papers from class. I require that a
parent sign any papers that are below a 75%. This will allow for you, the parent, to be aware of your
child’s progress in the classroom. These papers will then need to be returned to the classroom
the next day. The agendas will go home daily with the homework and any notes from myself.
I encourage contact from parents about your students’ success in the classroom. You may contact
me through email or the school’s phone number. My email address is stacey.osborne@cobbk12.org
The school’s phone number is 770-578-7265. Please feel free to contact me at any time. Also,
please check our class website often for important information and resources!
