3rd Grade Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents,

We have sailed through another wonderful week.  The newness is wearing off and we are getting down to serious business.  We appreciate your support in training your children in the homework game.  We stress using the assignment pads to track their work and see what they have and have not done.  We really believe that this type of organizing is worth pursuing and that it will help the students along the road.

We had our first reading test on Friday.  These will not get home to you until Monday.  When they do, help your child understand his/her mistakes.  We are concentrating on complete sentences and spelling.  The children may use the little personal dictionaries during the test that they have made.  We really expect common words and their SPELLING words to be spelled correctly.  This is a journey, but we are ready to roll !!

We are wrapping up our first chapter in math on Friday and will begin review for our first math test, which will be on Wednesday, September 16.  A study guide will go home on Monday, September 14.  We will review a lot in school for this test, but also expect home practice to supplement our study.

Next Friday is Helping Hands Day at MVPS.  So far we know that we will be reading to the preschool children.  We will share with you any other experiences that we will have on that day.

Encourage your child to tell about their days at school.  We want you to understand what we do.  Hopefully all our directions and instructions are clear and your child feels secure with us.  Please let us know if their is any confusion at all.

Enjoy this glorious weekend to come.  It is one of our favorite holidays.  Stay healthy and safe.
