Welcome Message Board

                       Hello, 3rd graders!!

This week we will continue learning about historical
figures. This week we will be reviewing Mary McLeod Bethune and begin
talking about Frederick Douglass. He was famous for escaping to freedom
through the Underground Railroad.

Max Malone will be our story this week.

***MULTIPLICATION FACTS*** Due to the overwhelming amount of paper that we
were using for Multiplication Facts quizzes, we have opted to use the Math
Magician Website in the classroom to make the process more user (and teacher)
friendly. Beginning this week (Jan 19th) all students will quiz on the
computer for all math facts (add, sub, mult, and div). In order to pass,
students must complete all questions in 1 minute and with 100% accuracy. The
link can also be accessed from home. Just visit our Class Web Sites link to
the left!***

***GRADED PAPERS FOLDERS*** Due to the new grading procedures that the
district has put in place this year and last, I will no longer be averaging
percentage grades for your child. Your child will have a -4, -7, 4/7, 6/10,
etc. on all papers. I will keep a checklist on their progress towards the
standards. Everyday practice papers will not be graded, but gone over
together and corrected in class. Any assessments given on Thurs and Fri will
be sent home the following Monday in the Graded Papers Folder. PLEASE
REMEMBER that these papers are to be looked at, then SENT BACK TO SCHOOL TO
KEEP IN YOUR CHILD'S PORTFOLIO!!! Thanks!***

PARENTS!!!- You can now keep up with your child's progress in Accelerated
Reader. Go to https://Hosted203.renlearn.com/57945/HomeConnect/Login.aspx.
You can slso set up email notification for when your child takes a test and
get answers to many questions about the program. An easy access link is now
in our FUN AT HOME section of our website as well!

Thanks and have a great week!
