Olympic Project

Mrs.Poppell’s Class

North Peachtree Academy

During the first two weeks of school we will be studying the Olympics.  In order to facilitate learning and interest, each student will chose a country to represent (please let me know what country by Monday, August 11).  They will then make a poster on their country that will be due Friday, August 22.

The project must contain a the following information (though it is not limited to)

o   Map of the country

o   Capital

o   Flag

o   A few interesting facts or trivia.  This can include unusual holidays, religions practiced, etc.

o   A few pictures of the country.

On Friday, August 22 we will celebrate the end of or unit with a classroom Olympics where our “countries” will compete against each other.  We will have a closing ceremony complete with ice cream.   I will provide the ice cream, and if each parent could please send in a topping I would appreciate it.  Parents are welcome to participate or just watch.

I encourage you to integrate what we are learning at home as you watch the Olympics as a family.  It is going to be a fun and exciting unit!
