Science Notebook

3rd Grade

In third grade students will complete a science notebook.  Please follow the guidelines listed below.

1)      Students are to collect at least 5 pictures for each of the six categories.  Pictures may be cut from magazines, newspapers, or books.  Students may also trace and color pictures from books that cannot be cut.  Please do not use the third grade science text.

a.      mammals  

b.      amphibians

c.      reptiles  

d.      birds

e.      invertebrates

2)       After students collect pictures, they should mount them on construction paper.  Each picture should be labeled with the name of animal.

3)      Each category is to be designated by a different color of paper (in parenthesis) and should include a title page.   Characteristics of each category should be neatly written on notebook paper, attached to a piece of construction appear and placed just behind title page.

4)      Competed project is to be fastened into a notebook with an attractive cover decorated by the student.

5)       Notebook should be the work of the student, although parents may give suggestions.

6)       Notebooks should be neat and thorough.

7)      Notebooks will be due November 7th.
