I hold a Bachelors of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University in
Plainview, Texas. My certifications include Early Childhood Education (Pre-K
through 5th grade), Health & Physical Education (Pre-K through 12th grade),
and Middle Grades Education (4th through 8th grade). I have 15 years
teaching experience: 9 years teaching middle school math, and 6 years
teaching pre-K. When serving in the middle grades, I was math department
chairperson at an 8th-grade school, presenter at a middle school teacher's
conference, and state committee member in building the State Math Assessment.
I was voted by my peers Teacher-of-the-Year in 2000, and twice have been
nominated Who's Who Among America's Teachers by former students. While
serving Pre-K children, I have worked extensively on the International
Baccalaureate curriculum, organized school visitors and field trips, and
written a grant to obtain more learning manipulatives.
I have been working with children for almost 30 years either through church,
camp, YMCA or school settings. I know that my purpose is to inspire,
encourage, and motivate young people to learn and grow in their faith and to
be confident learners in life.
