This week Pre-K classes will be beginning a new unit of inquiry. This unit will continue through the end of April.

Name of Unit: “Rhyme Time”

Theme:       How We Express Ourselves

An inquiry into the ways in which we discover and express ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs, and values; the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic

Central Idea: People use rhymes and play with language.

Lines of Inquiry:

·      What are rhymes and poetry?

·      Composing rhymes and poetry

·      Playing with language and using movement and rhythm in rhymes and poems

Ways to support student learning at home:

·                Read lots of different Nursery Rhymes and poems

·                Play with words and make up silly rhymes

·                Talk about the rhymes you learned as a child

·                Teach your child some skipping rhymes

Most of all have fun talking with your child and finding out things together!
