An International Classroom - Let's explore & discover!

Who We Are, How We Express Ourselves

Students explore culture with authentic items from the Spanish-speaking world.

How We Organize Ourselves, How We Express Ourselves

Students review, connect, & compare a calendar from Spain to the ones they use in English here in the U.S.A.

How We Express Ourselves, Who We Are

After a Q&A in Spanish including "What is today's date?", "How are you?" and "Which season are we in?", plus writing the answers in our own notebooks and on the SmartBoard, students explore authentic items from Spain and Latin America & discuss details in Spanish. "Tengo calor." "Es pequeño." "Es rojo y amarillo." "Me gusta."

Comprar (infinitive verb, To Buy)

Learning in the dedicated Spanish Classroom

El salón de español
Students and adults (families, staff & visitors) compliment the elementary Spanish classroom. A variety of materials, information, and authentic cultural items create an inviting atmosphere and promote learning.

Technology and various inviting learning methods

We love the SmartBoard in the Media Center and homerooms.
The SmartBoard and other technologies would be a wonderful addition for the PYP Spanish classroom. :)

La comunidad (The community)

Yo voy al parque.
(I go to the park.)

¡Yo puedo! - I can!

I can spell in Spanish!
I can recognize words & expressions, plus follow directions en español.
I have fun learning & practicing Spanish, plus show what I know in different ways. I am open-minded, a risk-taker, confident, and knowledgeable.

Curiosity, Open-mindedness, Tolerance, Respect - We Express Ourselves In Different Ways

Students learn the alphabet in Spanish and the sounds each letter makes (phonics review). We learn and express ourselves in different ways. Students that are native speakers also share the way they say & pronounce things. Learners are exposed to different accents & expressions through a variety of mediums. We celebrate diversity.

Communicating & Making Connections

Students enjoy singing and dancing to the Spanish Alphabet Song. The Spanish program is basic, introductory, and inviting. We learn in different ways. The kids study, compare & connect, have fun, and sometimes don't realize they are working and learning. :)
