Homework

Homework will be given to reinforce skills learned in the classroom and to
develop reading proficiency. A daily reading log will be sent home
requiring students to read 10 minutes. Beginning the first week of school,
students will have weekly spelling lists with assignments. Math homework
will be sent approximately 2 times each week. All homework is to be
returned in the daily folder to the paraprofessional. Please encourage
neatness on homework and schoolwork.

Conferences

We would like to encourage at least 2 conferences this year: one after
first report card and one mid- year. Please send a note in the daily folder
if you would like to request an additional conference or phone call at any
time.

Lunch/Ice Cream

Students may prepay for their lunches on Monday. Please make all checks
payable to Peeples Elementary School. Additionally, students may purchase
ice cream on a daily basis. Please keep ice cream money separate from lunch
money and provide correct change.

Daily Folder

This is our way of communicating with parents on a daily basis. Folders
need to be cleaned out and returned every day. Please put all notes and
money inside the folder. We will not check bookbags for notes or money. We
will check only folders. Money should be sent in an envelope or Ziploc
inside the daily folder. Label the envelope with the child's name,
teacher's name, and purpose of the money.

Snack

We encourage you to send a healthy, substantial snack with your child each
day.

Classroom Management

The student will be involved in solving his/her problem. Consequences for
inappropriate behavior are designed to be instructional rather
than "punitive." The intent is to prepare students to function effectively
in society.

Bookbags

Bookbags (or backpacks) are essential. Please be sure your child brings one
every day.

Grading System

Many assessments will be done by informal observations. We will assess and
evaluate individually and during large and small group times. Conferences
will be held to inform parents of student progress within the first ten
weeks.
