I was a student at River Road when it opened and have now returned as a
teacher. River Road School is very different today. The entire school was
one hall with the media center being the cafeteria with a nice wooden stage
with long steps that were used as risers for musical presentations, end of
year ceremonies, etc.
I have taught 3rd,5th,6th Grades and Kindergarten during my 32 years
teaching. The young child is by far my favorite and most of my experience
has been spent taking them on the journey from learning letters and numbers
to using them in reading, writing, adding and subtracting.
I am married to Frank Wilson,Jr. We have 2 sons who have married and given
us 2 daughters. Our greatest gifts are our grandchildren, Two grandaughters
and one grandson. The oldest is in 4th Grade and our grandson is in 3rd
Grade this year. I am enjoying keeping up with their progress. Our newest
angel is 3 months old.
This will be my last class of kindergarten as I plan to retire in June. It
is with mixed emotions that I begin the last year in a wonderful career.
Our Mission in Kindergarten is to move through the stages of phonological
awareness, phonics, reading, writing, using numbers in our world and
exploring our planet, continent, country, county, city, community, family,
holidays, national symbols, economics, scientific processes,and technology,
while learning to contribute to our society in a positive way solving daily
problems.
