C.A.R.E.
C.A.R.E. stands for Children At Risk in Education. It is the name of the Fayette County School System's Student Assistance Program. Each school has its own C.A.R.E. Team. Each school's C.A.R.E. Team decides which components of a student assistance program it wants to have in place and members of the C.A.R.E. team work together to accomplish the established components. Sara Harp Minter Elementarys C.A.R.E. Team members will work throughout the year to assist in providing a nurturing component to our school environment, to encourage positive and healthy relationships, and to enhance the well being of students in need by providing support services.
C.A.R.E. Components
Parent Education
Parent Resource Center-The Resource Center houses a collection of books, audiotapes, and videotapes that have been purchased with parents in mind. The Resource Center is housed in the Media Center where materials may be checked out by parents.
Character Education
Lifeskills Program-a program to assist students in learning more about positive character qualities which will enhance their character development.
Second Step Program-Fayette County Board of Education's violence prevention program. Students' lives are enriched through learning and practicing important social and emotional skills.
Rainbows
Twelve-week small group program for grief and loss issues. Faculty and staff are trained as facilitators. Multiple groups are conducted depending on grade level.
Drug Awareness/Education
Red Ribbon Week Activities
Literacy Action Program
Trained community volunteers assist students with reading skills on weekly basis.
Scholarships
After School Program
Lunch or snacks for students in need
Christmas Angel Tree

Assistance

Clothing Needs
Medical Needs
Referrals to local counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.
Referral Process
A C.A.R.E. referral form is completed by teacher or staff member regarding needs of a student. C.A.R.E. members review the form and match student needs with resources available.
Fund Raisers
C.A.R.E. Team members will have fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for C.A.R.E.
