Coach DuBois is beginning her seventh year at Sarah Smith and will be housed
at the intermediate campus working with 3rd through 5th grade. Originally
from central New York, she has taught in various grade levels throughout her
teaching career. With a Master's degree in Motor (Muscle) Learning and a
great appreciation for the environment, she, too, is looking forward to a
most diverse and rewarding year for her students.
Mr. Monroe is starting his fourth year at Sarah Smith and will be housed at
the primary campus working with K-2nd grades. This is Mr. Monroe's first year
as an elementary physical education teacher. Previously he taught seven years
as a second grade classroom teacher and two years as a high school health/PE
teacher. He has an Undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from UNC-
Charlotte and a Master's degree in Physical Education from WVU.
Coach Jackson has twenty years of experience in APS and will start her first
year at Smith. She will be working at both campuses.
The physical education program at Sarah Smith is designed to teach our
students the importance of physical activity and to expose them to a variety
of sports/activities that will encourage them to engage in life long physical
activity. The lower grades K-2 focus a great deal of time on motor and
skill development while the upper grades 3-5 focus more on fitness and game
related skills. The ultimate goal of our program is to make sure that
students are excercising in a fun and safe environment.
