Classroom Basics

The School Day:

School starts at 8:00 a.m.  Please try to have your child to school by 7:50 a.m. so he/she is ready to start the day on time.  School ends at 2:30.  If your child’s dismissal plans change please be sure to notify me by sending a note in your child’s Take-Home Folder or contacting the front office before 12:00 p.m.

Lunch:

Students may either bring a lunch from home or buy lunch here at school. If your child is planning on buying lunch you may put money into their account two ways. You can go online to and put money in electronically or you may send money to school on Mondays to your child's teacher (CASH ONLY). Whenever your child makes a purchase from the cafeteria it will automatically be deducted from your account whether the money was put in online or collected and put into the account at school. Please be sure to keep a positive balance in your account so your child will be able to purchase lunch items as needed.

Snack:

We will have a ten minute snack break each morning.  Please send in a nutritious snack from home.  No drinks please!  The students will be able to get water from the fountain.  Students will need to bring snack beginning the first day of school!

Birthdays:

We will celebrate your child’s birthday from 2:00-2:15 on, or as close as possible to your child’s birthday.  Summer birthdays will be celebrated during the last two weeks of school.  When we celebrate your child’s birthday he/she may bring in a special snack to share with the class.  Please provide a peanut/nut free snack. (NO CANDLES!)

Take-Home Folders:

Each student will receive a Take-Home Folder.  This folder will contain the day’s homework, a behavior chart, returned papers, and any other communication from teachers or PTA.  The folder should be reviewed each night and sent back to school the next day.  Any communication from home may be sent to me in your child’s folder as well.

Homework:

Homework will be sent home Monday-Thursday and will reinforce skills taught that day.  Homework is designed to be done independently, but some support may be required.  Grades will not be given for homework, but a record will be kept to see if homework is completed and turned in on time.

Newsletters:

This website will serve as our classroom newsletter. I will be updating the site weekly with what we have been working on in class, calendar updates, and any other new announcements.  If you do not have access to a computer please let me know and I will send information home in your child's folder.

Progress Reports:

Progress reports will come home every other Friday.  These reports will give you a general idea of what to work on at home and where your child is excelling.  Please sign and return the report on Monday.
