Sarah Smith Education Foundation (SSEF) enhances the quality of education at
Sarah Smith Elementary. In Language Arts, SSEF funds the following programs:
SMART Phonics-SMART includes reading assessment, fluency, phonics, phonemic
awareness, and reading comprehension. Funds pay for teacher training and
consumable materisals for each child.
Junior Great Books-This program aims to improve reading comprehension and
critical thinking skills. Funds pay for teacher training and consumable
books for each child.
Mountain Language-This program reinforces grammar and English language
skills. Funds provide kits for every classroom.
