Welcome Back to another very exciting school year. It's exciting
because you're a new Fourth grader!
This is my fifth year at Sarah Smith elementary as a fourth grade
teacher!. I taught two and a 1/4 years in Cobb County. How does someone
teach a 1/4 of a year you might ask?
Well, I'm originally from Michigan, where I taught four years as a
kindergarten teacher (imagine that). It was within those four years that I
would wake up bright an early to crisp fall days that quickly turned into
bitter cold winters that would last until mid April practically. It was then
that I realized, either I'm going to retire early or I have to move...I
decided to move!
Yes, it was the warm weather that allured my husband along with our two
boys to this great state! Where I've traded my heavy winter coat in for
central air:)
Although we've only been here for a short period, it was within
that time frame that I completed my graduate studies at Kennesaw State and am
contemplating obtaining my Doctorate Degree under the advisement of my career
manager, Keenan Jones who is incidentally my husband as well! We'll see, and
who knows, maybe one day, we all will meet again in a different educational
arena.(I'm thinking college professor)
Needless to say, I'm a very light-hearted individual and I hope more than
anything that I've made you laugh and feel extremely comfortable and
confident in my abilities to provide the BEST education for your children in
a warm and caring environment filled with opportunities to grow:)
I believe that establishing a partnership with my parents is essential to
a successful school year. Without it, all of my ideas, strategies, level of
education or the passion I have for teaching aren't as effective.
So my mission is to encourage my parent community to remain involved,
engaged while nurturing the parent-teacher relationship so that my parents
know that their input is vital and welcomed, as I aim at providing
individualized instruction for their child.
