Hello and welcome to your first or next exciting year at Sarah Smith
Elementary. I am very pleased to be part of the Sarah Smith faculty and
staff again this year. I know this will be a great year for you and your
child. I and all the teachers will be very dedicated to your child's
development through our Program of Inquiry this year. We will strive to have
many wonderful learning experiences every day, and we look forward to
sharing each of them with you. We hope to work with you to ensure the best
year for your child.
As for me, I am entering my twelfth year as a certified teacher and my
eighth as part of the Sarah Smith faculty. I have been working with
children for fifteen years now. I have worked in various ways with
children, ranging from a remedial paraprofessional in my hometown of
Adairsville, Georgia, to a director of an after-school program in Rome,
Georgia. I received my education from the State University of West Georgia,
where I had many learning experiences working with children. I have worked
with children of all ages—ranging from 4 to 13 years old—and have had
multiple opportunities to work extensively in many classrooms with veteran
teachers and children of various backgrounds. As a certified teacher, I
have taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. In November 2005, I
received my National Board Teaching Certificate.
Again, we are looking forward to a great and successful year with you and
your child. Remember that your child’s development within the Primary Years
Programme will be our number one priority at all times throughout this
school year!
The International Baccaluareate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and
caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world
through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and
international organizations to develop programmes of international education
and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active,
compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with
their differences, can also be right.
